Captain Phillip Heimbecker and Corporal Jon E. Hermann were killed when their patrol plane crashed shortly after takeoff.

They were transporting a prisoner at the time of the accident.

Captain Heimbecker had served with the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Officer for 28 years.
