William Frederick Mullikin

Deputy Sheriff William Mullikin was killed in an automobile crash while responding to a reported sighting of the subject wanted for murders of Police Officer Michael Hoing and Police Officer Wayne Rice, both of the Waterloo Police Department.
Both officers had been shot and killed two days earlier when they responded to a noise complaint at the man’s home.
During the response Deputy Mullikin attempted to pass a vehicle and struck another vehicle head-on. The subject was eventually captured and sentenced to two life terms. He died in prison on March 18th, 2014.
Deputy Mullikin had served with the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office for six years.
