Corporal Jon Hermann and Captain Philip A. Heimbecker were killed when their patrol plane crashed shortly after takeoff.

They were transporting a prisoner at the time of the crash.

Corporal Hermann had served with the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Officer for six years.
